What Is Hot Therapy ? Heat Therapy Treatment At Home

Heat therapy is also known as thermotherapy. Heat therapy is used to treat, muscle sprain, muscle strain, pain and stiffness.

Applying heat to an inflamed area will dilate the blood vessels and increase the blood flow. Heat therapy is very helpful in relaxing your muscles, and decreasing your body pain It is good for back pain, knee pain, shoulder pain etc, You can directly use heat therapy on your painful body part using a hot water bottle, heat belt or hot pack, available in the market.(Medical Store).

Using a hot water bottle on your painful body part, is the easiest and the most common way to treat any kind of muscle sprain, pain or stiffness.

Moist heat includes a wet source or way to relax, sore muscles, joints, back pain etc. For example, Hot baths, steam towels, or moist heating pads.
Hot bath is very useful and a common moist heat therapy treatment to treat muscle strain, injured muscles and for relaxing your body.
Moist heat therapy is useful in treating body pain. It can also be used to treat deep muscle spasm.

What Is Heat Useful For ?

Heat is very useful for Osteoarthritis, strains and sprains, for stiffness in the tendons. It is good for lower back pain, upper or middle back pain, and also for shoulder pain.

NOTE :
Do not use heat treatments after an acute injury. Never use heat where swelling is involved because swelling is caused by bleeding in the tissues, and heat will only cause more problem in such case.

Visit your doctor first before using heat therapy if your problem is old and major, or if you have high blood pressure or heart disease. Use Heat therapy for at least 1 to 2 days and if you see no improvement, in that case also you should visit your doctor.
